Who We Are

Brandywine Valley Proud has been created to link and build economic opportunities among lesbian, gay owned businesses, professionals, and our allies. We are unique in that we will also bring LGBT travel and conferences into the region to build overall economic prosperity for the whole community. The desire is to improve and strengthen business opportunities and to promote member businesses throughout the community. We want the general population to understand the power of the LGBT and allied business community.

As the State Treasurer of Delaware recently wrote, "We need to create an environment in the state and region that supports the lesbian and gay community or else we will lose out to other states and regions."

To help our government achieve this end, Brandywine Valley Proud Chamber of Commerce will represent its membership in a high profile manner gaining press coverage and visiting legislators. In effect, all parties will understand that Delaware and the Brandywine Valley can attract and hold its part of the $54 billion plus travel industry represented by our community. Furthermore, it is estimated that:
  • $513 billion in income and spending by the LGBT community, by 2007 it will grow to $708 billion.
  • 75% will switch Brands if they feel the Brand truly supports the community
  • 99% Brand Loyalty
  • Approximately 160,000 members of our community live and work in the Brandywine Valley
Links will be forged and public awareness raised with the aggressive schedule of events that follow. So please join us as members and help us all to succeed, united in our mission.
